Club's Rules
Students shall show respect for the school, classmates, appointed senior students and coaches. At the beginning of each class students will perform the salute and say: “Ni Hao Shifu (師父)” Hello teacher, “Ni Hao Shimu (師母) Hello teacher's wife. At the end of each class students will perform the traditional salute and thank the coach for the class by saying: “Xie xie Shifu, Xie xie Shimu” (Thank you teacher, Thank you teacher's wife).
Junior students must greet their senior classmates (blue sash and up) as follows: "Ni Hao Shixiong (師兄)" Hello Senior Bother or "Ni Hao Shijie (師姐)" Hello Senior Sister.
Students are expected to be self-motivated and push themselves, but it is important to do so correctly to avoid injury. In the case of joint sprains, muscle strains and other injuries, our approach is to avoid all exercises which aggravate an injury. Your overall fitness has a great influence on your body's healing powers.
If you are late for class wait on the side of the training area for permission from the coach to join the class.
If you need to leave early, please let your coach know in advanced.
Ask questions but stay on topic.
The sash is a symbol of your effort, don’t play with it or throw it to the floor.
Testing is not a right but a privilege and requires hard work; showing up for class but not pushing oneself, being disruptive, not working as a team etc. will only extend the time required before the next test.
No side conversations when your coach is teaching or during training. You can do so only during the breaks.
Sparring is allowed only with instructor’s permission, only by experienced students and only under supervision and with protective gear.
Sparring participants are always responsible for each other’s safety. All strikes, throws and submissions should be "pulled" as if expecting each other's evasive maneuvers to fail. All students should never "go all out" even if they become experienced in our sparring methods.
Always protect your training partners even if that means sacrificing your own learning.
Students sparring outside of class assume complete responsibility for their actions, injury to themselves or others.
Students are required to come to class with clean uniforms, properly groomed and with their finger and toenails short. Nobody wants to train with someone who has a strong body odor (we recommend the use of deodorant) or be cut by long nails. The latter is also a safety hazard.
If any skin condition or sickness occurs, make sure to let your coach know and stay home to avoid spreading it to your classmates.
Aggressive behavior or language will not be tolerated. If a student is being disruptive during the class, he/she will be asked to sit down and observe; if a repetitive behavior she/he maybe be asked to leave for good with no refund of fees paid.
